Hi,
I guess all I can say is that this is my honest point of view about what happened that day, and my crew can easily state
the same story:
"I wanted to thank the BaywatchRI team for the professional and careful service you provided for my sinking sailboat
on June 24, 2007. When the hull ruptured and began taking on water near Quonset Point, I immediately radioed ****** and ******.
Both companies sent their boats, but while my boat was sinking, they seemed obsessed with my insurance status and my ability to pay.
I was doing my best to sail the sinking boat, and I was sure one of those two boats would throw me a line and simply tow me a quarter
a mile to safety, but they repeatedly refused and they seemed more content to watch my boat sink until it became a salvage situation.
I was able to sail the sinking boat for about 30 minutes before the hull filled with water and capsized while ****** and ******
circled around me and observed. Fortunately, BaywatchRI arrived on scene and performed the four-hour rescue operation that saved my
boat. The service required two tow boats and a diver to remove my mast and sails, which were recovered undamaged. I was happy to pay,
since your team was clearly dedicated to the safe recovery of my boat and crew, rather than my ability to recover payment from an
insurance company. I am now a member of BaywatchRI, and recommend you highly to other RI boaters who wish to avoid moving from a towing
situation to a salvage operation."
Thank you, D. Sylvestre
