Imagine yourself enjoying a Fourth of July weekend on Great Salt Pond, Block Island on your boat. A storm has passed through
and now is the time to enjoy the rest of the weekends sun and fun.
Then you see a 54' Hanse bearing down on you stern first at
5kts dragging its anchor with no one onboard!
That is what happened on July 6, 2007. The "AirGlow" was dragging anchor and bouncing
off boats in Great Salt Pond. Luckily BaywatchRI was patrolling and was able to bring up the dragging anchor and get the
"AirGlow" settled onto an emergency mooring ball where her owners were able to retreive her.
Luckily she only sustained
minor damage and was only responsible for minimal damage to other vessels within the pond.
Due to our location we are able to have vessels hoisted out to insure no further damage is incured.
